Online Student Complaints

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ (HCCC) is approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). HCCC is authorized to offer distance education to students residing in other SARA member states while maintaining a consistent process for resolving student complaints.

HCCC is committed to providing a high-quality online learning experience and encourages students to raise concerns as early as possible so they can be addressed promptly and fairly.

HCCC Student Complaint Process

The complaint and grievance process for students enrolled in online courses is the same as for all HCCC students, regardless of location.

Students are encouraged to first discuss concerns directly with their instructor whenever appropriate. Many concerns can be resolved quickly through informal communication.

If a concern cannot be resolved informally, students should follow the College's established complaint and grievance procedures outlined in the HCCC Student Handbook, which includes academic grievances and other formal student complaint processes.

Access the HCCC Student Handbook

Complaints should be submitted in writing (email is acceptable) and should include:

  • Student name and contact information
  • Course name and/or course number (if applicable)
  • Instructor or department involved
  • A detailed description of the concern
  • Any supporting documentation relevant to the complaint

NC-SARA Complaint Resolution Process

Students enrolled in distance education under NC-SARA policies who reside outside New Jersey in another SARA member state should first use HCCC's established complaint and grievance procedures to seek resolution of their concern.

If a complaint is not resolved through the College's internal complaint process, students may appeal the complaint to the New Jersey NC-SARA State Portal Entity within two years of the incident about which the complaint is made.

The NC-SARA complaint process applies to consumer protection issues related to distance education offered under NC-SARA policies. Complaints regarding grades or student conduct violations are governed by HCCC's institutional policies and procedures and are not eligible for appeal through the NC-SARA complaint process.
